Hello from SilkSpun and welcome to our site! We appreciate your stopping by to visit. We are a small, family-oriented kennel with an emphasis on family companions! We live near Birmingham, AL on a small farm with our Goldens, horses, cats and various rescue dogs we get from time to time.
We got our start in 2003 with the very beautiful French import, Touch of Silk. She is now retired and is still both the avid hunter as well as the biggest puppy of the family!
We also have her son, Bailey, who is another family pet from her first litter in April 2005. He was my first dog to title and has been featured in a National commercial!

Our passion for the breed:
We are members in good standing of the GRCA (Golden Retriever Club of America) and the BOTC (Birmingham Obedience Training Club). We have trained and shown our dogs to all of their obedience titles. In addition we have shown in the conformation ring as well.
We breed each litter with great intention and careful consideration. We are very selective a/b the pairings with regard to their pedigrees, temperaments and healthy future bloodlines! All of our dogs have both their preliminary and final health clearance testing for their hips, elbows, hearts, eyes and thyroid.
We welcome calls and home visits when set up in advance. There is a screening process to ensure proper homes for future pups. As a responsible breeder, I am involved as needed as pups are raised and will be a support for consults for the life of the dog. I invite you to interview and research me as well. I love it when folks do their homework and are searching for a well-bred dog in earnest (and are not in a huge hurry)! Trying to rush-the-process may result in unintended disappointment and regret.
I desire to train and produce sound Golden Retrievers with healthy lines to preserve the breed for future generations. Whether you want a prospective performance/obedience dog, a therapy dog or a family companion (or all of the above!)—I will support you to your goal as I am able!
